Message Minute (Trust Is Not Passive)

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." - Proverbs 3:5

The Hebrew word for "trust" carries the meaning of being glued or bonded to something. It's not about sitting back passively, waiting for God to do everything. Trust is an active choice, a daily decision to transfer your weight from yourself onto Him.

Think about sitting in a chair. You can believe the chair will hold you, but until you actually sit down, that belief means nothing. True trust is putting your full weight on God, releasing control of outcomes you're desperately trying to manage.

This doesn't mean you stop making decisions or taking action. It means you bring God into every decision, the career choice and the grocery list, the crisis and the mundane Tuesday afternoon. When you practice trusting God with your whole heart, you're not hedging your bets or keeping a backup plan. You're saying, "Even the parts of me that are scared, even the parts that don't understand yet—all of me trusts all of You."

Reflection: What area of your life are you still trying to control instead of trusting God with it? Practice the breath prayer, while releasing control to God.

Find a quiet place and set a timer.
Get comfortable and relax.
Begin the prayer rhythm:
Breathe in: “Lord, I am listening.”
Breathe out: “I trust You.”
End with gratitude.

Prayer: Father, help me move from belief to trust. Teach me to transfer my weight from my own understanding onto You. I want to be bonded to You in every decision, every moment. Amen.
